WESTCHESTER, NY – Now entering their third season of competition in United Soccer Leagues Super Y and Super-20 League, the Westchester Flames are proud to announce the addition of a women’s Super-20 team for the 2010 season. The club also released the tryout dates for their six squads competing under the USL banner.

“With three SYL and Super-20 seasons already under our belt, the Westchester Flames will continue to provide young players in Westchester County an opportunity to play at a high level in 2010,” said Westchester Flames Super Y-League Administrator, Katia de Souza. “There has been a lot of interest and requests to have a woman's team. The Flames are enthusiastic about forming a very competitive team for this elite level.”

In Spring of 2008, the Westchester Flames began their youth program by placing three boys teams in USL’s Super Y-League at the U14, U16 and U17 levels. The Mid Atlantic Division club fielded a fourth team in the then, three-year-old USL Super-20 League. Westchester ended their inaugural year as the No. 10 ranked club in the Mid Atlantic Division.

The 2009 season proved to be better. With the addition of a fourth Super Y-League team at the U13 level, the club showed improvement in the rankings. They moved up two spots to become the No. 8 team in the Mid Atlantic region. The improvement and success continued with the club’s U15 boys earning a berth in the 2009 North American Finals in Tampa, Florida were they advanced to the semifinals of the U15 boys tournament.

About the Westchester Flames Westchester Flames has been part of Westchester's soccer scene since their inception in 1998. Westchester Flames men's team won their first USL Premier Development League Championship in 2001. In the 2000 season, the men's team finished third in the North America and in 2003 the men's team were PDL finalists. Also in 2003, the Flames became the first team in USL history to win one championship, move to a higher division, and go to the final in the higher division. In 1996 they made to the PDL semifinals in Laredo, Texas were they lost 3-2.

Westchester Flames men's team featured US National Team members Charlie Davies as well as many players who have advanced to MLS and other European Pro Clubs such as: Chris Wingert and many others.

In 2008, Westchester Flames have brought back their youth program to provide an elite level of play as well as youth development. The Flames will feature teams from 12 to 17 years old participating in the Super Y-League (SYL) and Under-20 players in the Super-20 League, the youth components of USL.
