Westchester Flames face another tough weekend

New Rochelle, NY - 07/22/2004 - The Westchester Flames take to the road again, this time heading west into Pennsylvania. Not faring well in previous encounters, the Flames must win at least one of the games to keep themselves in good shape for the playoffs.

First up is Harrisburg. The City Islanders (6-5-3, 21 points) defeated the Flames 3-0 in New Rochelle on June 26. They are fighting for their playoff lives as well, as they are embattled for second spot in the Atlantic Division with the Long Island Rough Riders.

Saturday brings the rematch with Pittsburgh. Sitting out this game will be captain Laurence Piturro, who was given a red card for the play that broke the leg of Riverhounds player Granit Cuashaj, on July 10th in New Rochelle. Pittsburgh, having not lost since May 8th, has already clinched a playoff berth. However, due to the nature of the previous meeting where Pittsburgh defeated the Flames 6-2, it is sure to be one of the more intensely fought battles of the 2004 Pro Soccer League season.

Also out on Saturday will be midfielder Roberto Esquivel, who has accumulated over 21 disciplinary points. He will return on July 31st.

The Flames, (7-6-2, 23 points), have their work cut out for them before heading home for the final two home games of the season against division rival Western Mass.

In other news, Flames midfielder Julio Nosta was named to the PSL team of the week for his two goal performance against Wilmington.
