Fury Douse Flames 3-1 to Extend Unbeaten Streak

[2009.06.21 - Westchester, NY] Ottawa record 7th win in 9 games in Westchester

For the second straight night the Ottawa Fury (7-0-2) staged a comeback keeping their undefeated season intact with a 3-1 victory over the Westchester Flames (1-8-2). Second half goals from Brien Chamney, Keishen Bean and Florian DeCamps powered the Fury second half comeback pulling them within 5 points of first place Long Island with two games in hand.

The Fury surrendered the first goal for the second straight game as Westchester's Josh Trott slotted home a low shot beating Stefan Caulfield in the 29th minute. The Fury had numerous first half chances including a Paul Kihara breakaway that was turned aside by Flames keeper Brendan Dunn. Dunn made three other first half saves denying Schipper, Caceros and Theissen to keep the Flames ahead through 45 minutes.

With the rain coming down hard to open the second half the Fury continued to pour on the pressure and Brien Chamney converted a Joel Theissen free kick for his 3rd of the season pulling the Fury all even after 48 minutes. The goal ignited an already determined Fury team who created chance after chance.

With Westchester creating a few chance of their own midway through the half the Fury turned to their bench bringing Liam Maloney, Andrew Rigby and Florian DeCamp into the game joining the already-subbed Keishen Bean. In the 82nd minute Keishen Bean patiently rifled home a Liam Maloney pass giving the Fury a hard-earned lead. Moments later Bean setup Florian DeCamps who turned the defender and fooled the keeper for his 5th of the season clinching victory for the Fury.
